Hi Friends -
Welcome to RMAD's Week in Review! We apologize for not having one last week or a weekly announce. We've been extremely busy with our ongoing projects.

Update on the turtle rescue site: This endeavor has officially come to a close, as far as I can see. We stopped by to grab our tools and materials to find that the canal is once again filled with water. This is good news for all the creatures that reside there. Let's hope the powers that be think twice - and then once more - before making a decision that impacts an entire ecosystem. Thanks again to all who helped out with this massive effort that saved nearly 2000 lives! Thanks especially to key rescuers Tim Seeber and James DeSimone who came out with me nearly each and every time.

Update on RMAD's guide to ethical food choices: This has really come together and is looking really good! The design - if I do say so myself - is tight, the writing is excellent, the focus is precise, and the overall aesthetic and message is moving and informational. We have had scores of volunteer hours and contributions ranging from elite athletes to RMAD board members to other well-known animal advocacy groups.

Thanks to Jill Bielawski and Barbara Bear for organizing the Fishing Hurts demo for the Boulder Creek Festival. We're going to have a special guest, Gil, out at the fishing pond at 7 a.m. on May 28th to teach compassion, not abuse. If you can participate, please RSVP Jill (JillB@rmad.org) or Barb (BarbaraBear@hotmail.com).

Please check out
www.downbound.com, a seller of ethically sourced and cruelty free products. RMAD has signed up to be an affiliate so please specify RMAD in the appropriate field and we'll get a portion of the profits. Let me know what you think of their site and products.

Serving the public was, again, busy as always. I answered emails from students in Canada trying to protect groundhogs on their school property, calls about pigeons in Laramie, WY, squirrels in Boulder, and companion animal questions from all over. Dave was working on a situation with a coyote caught in a barbed-wire fence. Calls continue to come in about bulldozings, including the Louisville horror. RMAD provides great deals of information to concerned citizens and we do our best to motivate them to get more involved. We need your help!

That's about it. If I forgot anything, please let me know.

- Chris
