Dear Friends:

With the advent of spring, both people and animals are rising from their semi-hibernations. You may notice prairie dog colonies coming to life, including the animals who rely on them for food and shelter. However, prairie dogs are perpetually threatened by rampant development and untruths about the nature of this valuable, fascinating animal.

The public consistently appeals to RMAD for help in these situations, and we do our best to guide and support them. In the past month, we’ve assisted with some 20 threatened colonies, ranging from Boulder, Colorado to Lawton, Oklahoma. We’re continually evaluating our strategies and techniques.

In addition to being a valuable resource for prairie wildlife advocates, RMAD continues to be a clearinghouse for the spectrum of animal issues. We’ve recently assisted with sick horses, unhealthy animals at a Colorado puppy mill, finding homes for companion animals, legal help with wildlife conservation, and much more.

A big thank you to Lynne, Torie, Chelsea, Emilie and Fernando for volunteering at our mailing party. With their help, RMAD was able to get a 2200-piece mailing out the door without a hitch. RMAD volunteers continue to leverage every dollar donated, ensuring our effectiveness in advocating for all animals along the Front Range.

Please don’t forget to slow down in wildlife crossings and near prairie dog colonies! And don’t forget to move your clocks forward this Sunday.

Thanks for reading.
